BSc (Hons) Microbiology and Biotechnology

Studying in this programme, you will consider how biotechnology exploits the diversity of this microbial world in the production of drugs, food and the decontamination of our environment. You will discover how an understanding of a microbe's ability to exist in a diversity of environments can lead to applications that benefit humans and their environment. You will learn of the responses of the human immune system to invading bacteria and viruses and the exploitation of this knowledge by the pharmaceutical industry in the development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostic kits.
